Two-time heavyweight champion Joshua Discharged from Hospital in Nigeria Following Deadly Car Crash

Former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has been discharged from hospital, Nigerian authorities confirmed on Wednesday night. The athlete was involved in a car accident outside Lagos on December 29th, a devastating event that claimed the lives of two of his valued colleagues.

Under Observation for Minor Injuries

The boxer had remained in the hospital while recovering from minor injuries, representatives confirmed on Monday. A government official, Gbenga Omotoso, said in a statement on social media that Joshua was deemed clinically fit to “recuperate at home”.

“The boxer and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to offer their condolences to his two deceased friends as they were being prepared for repatriation,” the commissioner stated.

A Tribute to the Fallen

Those who lost their lives were named as Latif Ayodele, a fitness coach, and Sina Ghami, a strength and conditioning coach. It was also noted that the athlete was heartbroken and full of emotions over the loss of his two dear friends.”

This update on his health arrives after the boxing community offered condolences for the fighter in the wake of the terrible crash.
